"The Great Obstacle Race" is the fourth episode of Timothy Goes to School.
Synopsis[]
The children partake in an Obstacle Courses and have a lot of fun. But Claude and Grace are so focused on winning that they get really competitive and isolate themselves from the others.
Plot[]
Timothy's mom comes into his bedroom to get him ready for school. He hops put of bed and she watches as he plays around, expressing how excited he is for today. On top of having fun, the winners of each event will win a gold medal. Timothy hurries to finish getting ready and his mom gives him the lunch he nearly forgot, teasing him by saying that the jelly on his sandwich will improve his jumping. Timothy thanks her and gets onto the bus.
At school Mrs. Jenkins welcomes the students to their picnic day and explains how Miss Appleberry will be joining them to lend a hand. She reminds them to try their hardest, but focus on having fun today.
With that they move onto the first event, a two-person balloon race. They are instructed to hold the balloon using only their heads between the two of them and everyone gets together. Doris is disappointed that nobody is left for her to team up with, until Mrs. Jenkins offers to join her. The race starts with Timothy and Yoko getting the lead until their balloon slips between them and floats away, causing them to chase after it. The Franks catch up until their balloon pops, and Lily and Fritz lose their balloon; which ends up beneath Lily's skirt. Claude and Grace win, followed by Mrs. Jenkins and Doris, and Nora and Charles. Claude and Grace are confused by everyone's excitement as they finish, considering they didn't win.
For the wheelbarrow race, Mrs. Jenkins explains that they must make it to the finish line without falling over. The Franks get an early lead, followed by the rest of the teams. Claude and Grace win again, but Lily and Fritz, The Franks and Timothy and Yoko have all fallen over. The egg-and-spoon race ends up being canceled due to the Franks misunderstanding the rules. Nora is annoyed but Mrs. Jenkins assures her there is still a lot to enjoy. With that they line up for the three-legged race, and once again Claude and Grace win. They are followed by Nora and Charles, the Franks, Fritz and Lily, Yoko and Timothy, and Mrs. Jenkins and Doris.
Mrs. Jenkins calls lunch and Timothy offers to share some of his sandwich, recalling what his mother told him. Most of them accept with the exception of Claude and Grace, who brush them off, uninterested in what they discuss. They brag about how they keep winning, but none of the others seem to care. Once lunch ends they move onto the final event, a big obstacle course. Mrs. Jenkins tells everyone that they have to try every obstacle in order to complete the obstacle course and get to the goal, and this time they won't be in partners.
The race begins with the children crossing over a thin log, then jumping over a mud puddle swinging from a rope. This is followed by a larger puddle, which Grace and Claude reach first- but neither of them want to get dirty. They watch as everyone else dives in and are forced to go around it, still getting muddy in the process. They rush to the finish line but unfortunately, everyone else came running in and they can't tell who came in first because they can't tell who is who because they're all so dirty. Mrs. Jenkins decides to present everyone with a gold medal, and all of the children cheer as the mud melts off.

- From their shapes, the winner of the Obstacle Race was either Charles or Nora, followed by Yoko, Lilly, and either Timothy or Frtiz.
- On Qubo, the following scenes were edited for time or cut:
- Nora yelling at the Franks for ruining her favorite race. On Qubo, she is only shown approaching them as they apologize.
- A few seconds of Timothy sleeping in bed.
- The scene of Timothy tumbling around his room.
- The children cheering as Mrs. Jenkins reveals she has an announcement.
- The scene with Doris trying to find a partner is removed.
- After Mrs. Jenkins gives the children their medals they are shown commenting about them or observing them. The children's various comments are removed, along with a few of them looking at the medals.
Errors[]
- When Grace jumps over the log, her voice clip was Yoko's.
- When the students arrive, Miss Appleberry was shown with Mrs. Jenkins. But when she blows her whistle she isn't there until the next shot.
- As Mrs. Jenkins and Doris finish the three-legged race, Doris' feet are dark colored.
