"On The Fritz" is the third episode of Timothy Goes to School.

Synopsis[]

Fritz is a very inventive skunk who can't resist studying any little thing that interests him; unknowingly, he also makes a lot of mess. With blame falling on "The Mess Fairy", the Franks take advantage of this to cause havoc around the classroom.

Plot[]

One morning, among the mess in his room Fritz comes across the directions of how to make a volcano project. With time to spare, he runs to the kitchen and grabs the needed items; lemons, hot sauce and baking powder. In the process, he accidentally knocks over a few items but doesn't notice.

He returns to his bedroom to get to work constructing it, shaping and placing the products inside. But to his confusion nothing happens. His alarm begins to go off and his mom comes into the room to make sure he got up. She sees the untidy bedroom and comments on this, asking him to use this time to hurry and clean up while she gets breakfast ready. Fritz agrees and changes out of his pajamas, then he crams everything beneath his bed.

He heads to the kitchen to eat breakfast, but he's displeased with the raisins in his bread and starts poking them out. His mom tells him to eat and she starts preparing his lunch while discussing the "mess fairy". She mentions that the fridge door was left opened and things got knocked down, but Fritz doesn't appear to notice she was referring to him. It's then he spots some spread nearby, and he takes a spoonful of it and added it to his milk to see what would happen. Hearing the bus, Fritz gets up and grabs his lunch to rush outside, his mother expressing disappointment to see the mess he left behind.

As Fritz approaches the box he spots a shiny red rock on the ground and picks it up. He greets Timothy and heads to the bus, unaware of the garbage cans he knocked over. Fritz sits down with Timothy to show him the rock and they discuss what Timothy plans to show everyone for "In The Spotlight" later; a box of various sea items he has collected from the beach. He asks Fritz not to tell anyone so that he can surprise them, and he agrees.

At school, Mrs. Jenkins greets everyone and they sit down and asks them to share what happened since yesterday. Doris is very excited to reveal her brother got a nosebleed, Fritz then shares with everyone the shiny red rock he found, which impresses them. Mrs. Jenkins allows him to look through the books to determine what kind of stone it is, but in the process Fritz accidentally spills many of the books onto the floor. Mrs. Jenkins brings up the mess fairy, surprising Fritz that she knows about her too. Mrs. Jenkins explains that his mother has told him of the messes that get left behind when the mess fairy comes along.

While this is going on, Timothy and Yoko overhear them and discuss the mess fairy while putting together a puzzle. Neither of them have heard of it before. They are joined by the Franks, and Timothy suggests they ask Fritz about it. As they take off they accidentally bump the table, spilling a few of the puzzle pieces. The twins blame the mess fairy and leave.

Mrs. Jenkins decides that it is now time for Music Class and introduces the students to Miss Appleberry, her student-teacher who will be in charge of music class today. Everyone starts to play their instruments, but their playing becomes out of tune and Miss Appleberry attempts to help them fix it. During this, the Franks ask Fritz about the mess fairy but he claims that he doesn't know anything. Fritz then becomes inspired spotting the not-being used heater nearby. He taps on it with his hand while holding the instrument and the Franks like it so much, they begin to do it too as he walks off, accidentally knocking over some papers. The Franks are unaware he did it and assume it was the mess fairy again. They like the idea of being able to act up and put the blame on someone else, so they knock over some more of the papers.

Mrs. Jenkins is pouring grape juice for the students until she runs out, and she heads to the nearby room to fetch some more. Fritz wandered into this room and he taps on whatever items sound interesting to him. He stops by the row of glasses and taps each of them to realize one sounds different from the others, then he starts to pour the grape juice into various amounts in each glass to make them all sound different.

Mrs. Jenkins can hear the sound from where she is, and she turns around to head back- and she returns to find grape juice all over the place. She is impressed with the sounds and how Fritz learned this on his own, but she asks him to help her clean up the mess. Afterwards they move onto Art Class to paint. Fritz messily paints, covering his hands with it to cover more of the canvas, and the other students are confused by his messy, smearing method. As this is going on, Timothy is distracted with his box collection and Mrs. Jenkins spots them. She compliments them and offers to let Timothy get cleaned up so that they can prepare for In The Spotlight next. He agrees and leaves the room. The Franks realize their teacher left the room and decide to throw paint, but this ends up getting on the other students and their canvases, frustrating them until Mrs. Jenkins comes back and stops them. Unfortunately, Fritz is inspired by this and uses his paintbrush to throw the paint, but he accidentally gets it on Timothy's collection when some of it misses the canvas.

Timothy is upset and Fritz quickly apologizes as Mrs. Jenkins and the Franks join them. They blame the mess fairy, but seeing the paintbrush in his hand, Fritz tells them to stop blaming the fairy, it's his own doing. The Franks are confused but Fritz focuses on fixing Timothy's collection and offers to clean it for him. He takes everything to the sink and Timothy is happy to see its been cleaned again, even saying they look better than before. Fritz is happy that he was able to fix things and he promises not to make anymore messes before leaving the room. Unaware that he left on the sink and water is now pouring onto the floor.
