Lifesaver Lily is the 16th episode of Timothy Goes to School.
Synopsis[]
Lily loves pet fish, and she becomes disappointed when Claude is chosen over her to watch the classes temporary fish.
Plot[]
One brisk and cold winter day, Lily boards the bus as Henry asks her if she remembered everything. She doesn't think so, until her mom reveals that she forgot her scarf. As she goes to sit down Henry brings up that he left a surprise in their classroom, but he won't tell them what it is.
At school Lily is delighted to find a goldfish awaiting them. Mrs. Jenkins explains that they will be watching Goldie for a while and suggests the students take turns looking after her. She asks who would like to go first and after both Lily and Claude volunteer, everyone votes for Claude after Doris brings up that Lily would probably forget. Lily is disappointed by this, and after school ends Henry is confused seeing how sad she is. She explains that while she liked the surprise, nobody thought that she would be a good caretaker for Goldie. Henry assures her this is untrue, and Lily perks up.
At home, she returns to her bedroom to take care of her own goldfish Treasure. She changes her water and feeds her, and while she's glad to see Treasure is doing alright, she feels sad again as she thinks about Goldie.
The following day at school Lily joins Timothy, Fritz and the Franks playing a game. She struggles and this causes Fritz to claim the teams are unfair -causing her mild disappointment- and the guys ask Claude to join them. He refuses, having been reading a book on taking care of fish. Lily's mood remains down throughout the day as the others compliment Claude's great care for Goldie, and when she gets criticized for forgetting her recorder at home. Mrs. Jenkins assures her its fine though, suggesting she try to remember it the next day.
The next morning Lily gets woken up by her mom and is holding her recorder. She asks that she make sure she brings it to school, but to her surprise her mom reveals its too snowy for school today. Lily is delighted by all the snow until her mom brings up that school was canceled due to the power failure as a result of the snow storm. Lily panics and tells her mom they have to get to school. Her mom drives her there and Lily runs through the front door as her mom tries to explain what happened to Henry.
The next day in class everyone arrives and starts worrying about Goldie when they find the water frosted over and the fish in question missing. But Lily arrives to reveal she has Goldie in a bag of water. Everyone perks up and Lily explains that she found out the power was off, so she brought Goldie home for the day. Everyone compliments her and Claude prepares to change the frozen water; until Doris insists Lily do it instead, because she knows how to take care of fish. Claude agrees and hands the tank over to her. Just then, Lily's mom shows up to reveal she forgot her lunch box.
