My Family is a Forty-Seventh episode of Timothy goes to School.

My Family

Synopsis[]

Nora hates having a little brother, and she doesn't enjoy doing the family project at school. But soon she realizes that they do share something in common.

Plot[]

Nora is trying to find her new crayons to bring with her to school one morning, when she spots her little brother Jack holding them. He cries once she snatches them away from him, until he spills his juice. Nora helps her mom by cleaning the mess up and asks her mom where the butterscotch pudding for lunch is. Her mom points out it was in a green container and Nora reaches into the fridge to grab it. It's then the phone starts to ring, and her mom asks her to clean Jack. Nora quickly does so but he gets himself covered in jam shortly after, unaware that he left a mark on the back of her dress.

Nora hops onto the bus and she joins her friends in playing a game of I-spy. Grace describes something purple and reveals the jam mark on the back of Nora's dress, much to her frustration as she recalls Jack did it. At school, Mrs. Jenkins announces that today is "My Family Day". They will each do a poster of their family and talk about them. Nora is excited to use her new crayons, until she takes them out to realize that Jack broke them. Things worsen during lunch, when everyone begins trading their foods. Fritz trades his slice of chocolate cake for Timothy's apple crisp, and Nora doesn't want to trade her butterscotch pudding for anything despite the offers she gets. But after she opens the container, she is startled to discover it is Jack's baby food after taking a bite and smacking her lips from its taste. Finally, she realizes that she grabbed her baby brother Jack's baby food by accident. And Frank #2 (disgusted) says he is not trading any of his chocolate chip cookies for baby food. (That is, as he says, "I AM NOT GOING TO TRADE MY COOKIES FOR BABY FOOD!".) Frank #1 agrees with Frank #2 and says (to Frank #2), "NEITHER AM I!".

By now, Nora wishes she didn't have a baby brother. As everyone starts to work on their drawings she observes Timothy's poster and asks him if he would like to come play after school. He agrees, and once they get there, she shows her drawings to Timothy. She deliberately has left Jack out though. When Timothy's mother comes to pick Timothy up, Nora goes to say goodbye; unaware that her baby brother would find her poster and ruin it on accident. She is dismayed once she returns, and he cries after she yells for her mom to get him. Nora attempts to rub off the scribbles but she ends up smearing them instead.

She remains in a foul mood until she hears noise coming from the kitchen. She finds Jack playing with the pots and pans and he invites her to play too. Nora hesitates after a moment, then she joins him since she likes to make a lot of noise. Their mom lends them the washboard to keep playing, happy they are getting along now. Jack stumbles over to Nora and hugs her, which makes her very happy.

The next day, the students showcase their posters of their families. Nora proudly talks about her parents and older sister Kate, along with Jack, who she has added to it. She mentions that while he can be a handful, little brothers can be a lot of fun too.
